Eric graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering. For over a decade he specialized in project management for several well known large commercial operations in the area.
In November of 2015, while living in South Philly with his wife Rachel and young children, he started EMS Contracting, Inc., a small residential construction company, which he grew successfully over the following three years. In 2018, with the kids slightly older and in preschool, Eric and Rachel collaborated on the start of an integratively-run design build firm that would bring all facets of design and build under one roof, combining their skill sets. Eric, incredibly passionate about efficiency and transparency and trust in the industry, and Rachel incredibly passionate about customer service and design that marries both aesthetics and supreme functionality for how the family lives.
Rachel graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City with a Bachelor's in Advertising and Marketing Communications. While living in New York she worked for W Magazine and for Eva Jeanbart-Lorenzotti, fashion mogul.
Rachel uses her years of fashion industry experience to inform her eye for interiors. Shape, color, texture, balance, and proportion are all the same theories, she says, whether you are dressing bodies or designing homes.
Upon returning home to Delaware after her years in New York , she stayed home to raise her and Eric's daughters while they were young, freelancing part-time managing marketing for J.Clayton Bright, local sculpture, and Eric's first general contracting company EMS Contracting, Inc.
In 2018, Rachel co-founded Starrett Design Build with her husband Eric, pivoting her career to interiors and coming on full-time as Designer. She designs and selects all selections including kitchens, which are done in-house and not outsourced for ultimate cohesion with the rest of your design and costing.
As you can imagine, designing custom walk in closets is her favorite.
