Quality. Transparency. Process.

See how Starrett Design Build has been shaping meaningful spaces for 10 years.

Co-founded in 2015 by Eric and Rachel Starrett, Starrett Design Build evolved out of the desire to deliver residential construction projects in a streamlined, efficient and customer-service driven manner, ensuring high level quality and attention to detail from start to finish.  We specialize in large-scale renovations, complicated design and builds, new builds, and green builds.

Licensed, bonded and insured in DE, PA and MD, Starrett believes that the best project results occur when all parties involved collaborate and help guide the project together from the project’s conception.

Starrett offers the design build process, the design-bid-build process (for clients who prefer to contract with an outside architect or designer) and pre-construction and design services. Contact us today to inquire about which offered process fits your needs.

Not all design build firms are created equal. We take pride in working hard to educate clients about the options available to them, and the pitfalls of the industry to watch out for. “Design build” has become a bit of a buzz word in the past five years or so, and it can be easily misunderstood.

True design build firms employ architects, designers and general contracting staff all under one roof. We are structured this way. Many design build firms (ours included) can also accommodate the design bid build process if the client prefers to contract with an outside architect or designer. In this case, we function as a builder that can offer more if the architect, designer or client prefers us to cover some deliverables for reasons advantageous to the other parties.

The design build process aims to streamline the traditional process by looking at the project through a costing and feasibility lens starting at the project’s conception, as opposed to halfway through the process. This saves the client time and money and there is less back and forth. Value engineering can be done throughout if need be to keep costs in line while designs are coming together. The client’s experience improves also: instead of juggling all parties working in their own silos, there is one point of contact that manages everything in an integrated fashion.
