Hockessin Valley Falls
This project is a Hockessin area home built in 1990. The family desired a 2-story addition to allow for a 4-season sunroom on the back of the first floor, and a 5th bedroom and full bath. Noteworthy details: The daughter’s room was designed around her avid love of dance, down to making sure the height of her ballet barre would fit her for many years as she grows. Her closets run the span of her entire wall to house her costumes and were designed as mirrors to evoke a ballet studio. Her bathroom lights were inspired by backstage makeup mirror lights. A design touch we love to do is to leave the existing exterior brick and bring it to the new interior space as a way to bring some texture and warmth. We carved out space for a small beverage station for convenience when the family is hanging out back there. Little touches like this help to make the space seem intentional in the home and like it has always been that way. A bedroom on the second floor was converted to an office with glass.
